WeChat Pay fee calculator
WeChat Pay waives the international-card fee at or below RMB 200 per transaction, then charges 3% of the full amount above it. Put an amount in and see what actually comes off the card.
The rule, in three lines
| Transaction | Fee on a foreign card |
|---|---|
| ¥200 or less | ¥0 |
| ¥201 | ¥6.03 (3% of 201, not 3% of 1) |
| ¥1,000 | ¥30.00 |

Where the fee comes from, and what it does not cover
The threshold is set by WeChat Pay for payments funded by an international card. It is not a currency-conversion charge, and it is not the merchant's card-terminal rate. A card terminal is often cheaper for larger bills because it uses a different fee structure — see the full WeChat Pay fee guide.
If you are hitting a limit rather than a fee, the five caps that stop foreign cards are set out in China payment limits. If the app itself will not take your card, start with the verification failure guide.
Questions people ask
Is the 3% charged on the extra amount or the whole bill?
The whole bill. At ¥201 you pay about ¥6.03, not ¥0.03. That is why the threshold behaves like a cliff rather than a slope.
Can I split a payment to stay under the threshold?
When the merchant allows it, yes. Three payments of about ¥167 carry no fee, while a single ¥500 payment would cost ¥15.
Does this apply to Alipay too?
No. This is WeChat Pay's rule for international cards. Alipay's treatment is separate — check the confirmation screen in the app before you confirm.
